Bridgend, Wales, 16 January 2015

CGI (TSX: GIB.A) (NYSE: GIB) CGI today welcomed Premier Couillard of Québec and First Minister Jones to its Bridgend facility where the leaders engaged in a media briefing and site visit. As a Canadian headquartered company and the largest ICT employer in South Wales, CGI is honoured to play a key role in facilitating Canadian investment in Wales.

Following the announcement in October last year of £3.2million in funding from the Welsh Government to help support the creation of 620 new jobs over the next five years Chris Morton, Vice President and Head of Service Operations, CGI UK provided an update on the recruitment drive: “Since the announcement in October we have been recruiting steadily with a net rise of 75 new positions in South Wales, bringing our headcount to nearly 1,200 members in the region.”

He continued: “We really appreciate the support from the Welsh Government, and in addition, CGI has also made a significant investment in skills development and our graduate and apprenticeship programmes. We were honoured to welcome both Premier Couillard and First Minister Jones to CGI Bridgend to see our shared service centre and 5 Star accredited service desk first hand.”

First Minister Carwyn Jones said: “I am delighted that we have been able to support CGI with their expansion in Wales especially as it came off the back of a meeting between Michael Roach, the President of the Canadian based company, and I in Montreal last July. CGI is one of our anchor companies and is committed to the highest ICT standards. We want Wales to be a ‘connected’ economy with a domestic and international reputation as a place to start, grow and sustain an ICT business. CGI is a great example of that in action.”

Premier of Québec, Philippe Couillard said: “Québec and Wales are recognised as leaders in the information technology sector. In addition to contributing to the development of our economies, CGI helps to maintain this advantageous position in a highly competitive market. I welcome the success of this flagship of Québec entrepreneurship.”
