London, 02 January 2013

CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) has been successful in its tender for the Government Procurement Services’ G-Cloud II following the OJEU tender process. The leading business and technology service company has been selected as one of the suppliers across the four areas G-Cloud II covers including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Specialist Cloud Services.

The contract will see CGI provide an array of services including hosting (including private cloud), Microsoft (including local cloud and Office 365 service), Oracle (including Fusion Factory design, build and cloud services) and Cloud design and consultancy and specialist offerings designed to meet specific challenges such as CGI’s EMO for vehicle emission monitoring.

G-Cloud II is the second phase of the UK government’s procurement portal, G-Cloud, which is part of a government-wide commitment to the adoption of cloud computing and delivering computing resources. CGI’s inclusion builds on Logica, now part of CGI’s membership of the first stage of G-Cloud. The G-Cloud is intended to deliver fundamental changes to the way the public sector procures and operates Information and Communication Technology (ICT), with the aim to see public cloud services account for 50% of new Government ICT spending by 2015.

G-Cloud is a tool for local and central government and other public bodies to help them select Cloud-based IT services. The portal allows public sector bodies to achieve considerable ICT cost saving and bring their supplier relationships under cost and scope control. A conveniently accessible pool of resources that can be quickly and easily purchased and applied with minimal disruption or managerial involvement, G-Cloud is a time saving tool which will bring technological advances to the public sector much more readily.

Paul Sussex, Vice-President Public Services UK at CGI said, “We are very pleased to be extending our cloud offerings to the public sector through G-Cloud II. CGI is dedicated to supporting the drive to increase the adoption of cloud services in the public sector, and helping to deliver considerable savings for organisations. The continuing development of the G-Cloud will help organisations across the public sector make the most of the benefits cloud computing has been proven to offer.”

CGI’s government cloud solutions integrate proven technology, solid management discipline and more than 35 years’ expertise to maximise savings, security, flexibility and transparency. CGI brings proven knowledge of delivering cloud services to government departments, including the following US federal agencies: Department of Homeland Security, National Archives and Records Administration, General Services Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Its unique complete cloud approach automates service management, providing well-defined service levels and solid transition planning.
