London, United Kingdom, 19 December 2013

CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) today announced it has been awarded a place on the new Government Procurement Service - Digital Services framework. The framework will give government departments easy access to suppliers who comply with the Digital by Default Standard and align with the Government Service Design Manual. The framework will help to support the Government’s objective to ‘redesign digital services to make them so straightforward and convenient that all those who can use them prefer to do so, whilst those who can’t are not excluded’.

Through the framework CGI will be able to provide resources for government departments to design, build and deliver digital services using an agile approach. CGI has secured places on the framework covering four capabilities:

  • Software Engineering and Ongoing Support,
  • Agile Delivery Management,
  • Web Operations and System Administration,
  • Embedding Agile.

CGI will be able to provide multi-disciplinary teams, including developers, architects, delivery managers, business analysts, product managers, web operations staff, database, security and network specialists and consultants.

Paula Sussex, Senior Vice President of UK Public Sector at CGI, said, “Digital transformation of government is vital to help services to be delivered in a more customer-centric form. Through our inclusion in the Digital Services and G-Cloud 4 Frameworks and our investment in the UK via our new Open Digital Services Centre, and SME Accelerate, our Small and Medium Enterprise programme, CGI is transforming the way we deliver services to help drive the Government’s digital strategy.”

The framework should help the Government deliver targeted reductions in operational costs of £1.7-1.8 billion per annum. 25 exemplar transactional services are the current focus of the strategy implementation and many more are set to follow.
