Position Description

Would you like to work for an organisation with over 40 years’ experience delivering secure, mission-critical IT solutions to Space, Defence and Intelligence clients.

CGI builds satellite control centres and bespoke security solutions for critical infrastructure such as satellite navigation and aircraft communication systems.

We are looking for a GNSS specialist to work on exciting projects in the satellite navigation sector. This position combines research, development and support activities within the realm of GNSS Timing, Positioning and Navigation. More specifically the role relates to the development of software for satellite and terrestrial based positioning systems, primarily concerned with real time GNSS services for various user applications.

It is imperative that you have a strong background and interest in the cutting edge of GNSS technology and have identifiably close links with the research community within both the corporate and academic environments.

As a new member of the team you will bring strong knowledge of GNSS receiver hardware and be seen as an expert in the field of software development methodologies, modelling languages and processes (such as UML, SysML, Object Oriented Design, Waterfall vs Agile development processes, etc.) and be able to consult and support on various large scale software projects.

Our roles are only available if you hold or fulfil the criteria to obtain a UK Security Clearance.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Contribute at a high level to the research, development, implementation and support of CGI UK GNSS initiatives.
• Provide technical support in the fields of GNSS, geodesy, surveying and data processing.
• Act as a close Liaison with other development and support groups.
• Management of multiple projects relating to the development and support of CGI UK GNSS activities.
• Expert Knowledge and consultancy on third party positioning products and software
• Evaluate new to market GNSS equipment and software.
• Lead and expand CGI UK’s position as an external thought leader on GNSS initiatives.
• Provide consultancy within CGI UK on GNSS issues and technology
• Provide guidance, supervision and training on in the realm of Timing, Positioning and Navigation.
• Maintain an understanding of appropriate QA procedures, ensuring that associated activities are conducted in accordance with CGI UK’s management framework

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• M.Sc. or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Geodesy or GNSS systems.
• Related engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skilled in GNSS designs and development of technical plans that meet objectives as per available resources or funding, project management, independent problem solving and troubleshooting in complex situations with the ability to act as a consultant regarding a wide range of GNSS applications.
• Experience of a broad range of skills related to computer operations, data communications, interfacing and application programs using C / C++ / Java, GPS data processing, INS and IMU technology and geodesy.

Our projects are based in a CGI office or client site but may require travel to other locations.

The successful candidate must be able to spend time working away from home, if required.
