Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Senior Project Manager at CGI you’ll be tasked with delivering projects, from a pool of requirements, specifically from a bid perspective. You will work closely with the Bid teams, engaging in propsal writing and costing of new bids.
Your assignments will encompass a mixture of application and infrastructure requirements on new and existing systems with project values of circa £5m. Our workload is interesting, challenging and high profile, working on projects that make a real difference to and have an impact on people’s everyday lives in the UK. The working environment is fast paced and often very demanding (both internally and from clients) so you’ll need to be resilient and comfortable under pressure. You’ll also need to interact and coordinate with people across our GLAFS business to deliver projects successfully. There are opportunities for progression within the business as well and these high profile projects can provide the ideal springboard for career development within CGI. We have a long track record of successful delivery with our clients and you’ll be a key part of maintaining and enhancing our project delivery for our clients.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
We expect our project managers to have experience in client facing roles, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of seniority. Successful project managers at CGI will also be responsible for day to day finances for each of their projects, as well as commercial engagement where required. Our project managers require experience in managing different role types / personnel across multiple teams i.e. in a matrix management environment.
You’ll ideally have experience of working on client facing IT projects and you should also have RAID management experience, demonstrable finance and budgeting skills and experience on projects up to and over £5m in value, and commercial engagement knowledge and experience.
These roles will be client facing so you’ll need skills to deal with both internal and external stakeholders and be able to manage both to achieve the best outcomes for both CGI and our clients. We like our project managers to hold a professional qualification/accreditation such as APM or PRINCE2 and demonstrable experience in utilising these methodologies/skills. You will also need planning skills such as developing product breakdown structures, work breakdown structures, milestones, resources, and horizon scanning.
