We have various Higher Apprenticeship Programmes across our business. Join us as an apprentice and not only will you enjoy the benefits of a permanent, full-time employment contract, you can look forward to the structured training, hands-on learning, and the support and encouragement you need to get your career off to a strong start.

Once you have completed your Higher Apprenticeship, you’ll have achieved a Level 4 qualification. And what’s even better is this learning is complemented by on-the-job training on real, live projects. So you can start to develop your career from day one.

    Software Development Higher Apprenticeship

    Our Software Development Apprenticeship is great for School Leavers wishing to pursue a technical career path and want to learn whilst earning at the same time.

    The Programme

    Our Software Development Higher Apprenticeship is run in partnership with our training provider, Makers Academy. It is a 12 month programme including 4 months of upfront training and you will have Makers Apprenticeship Coach support throughout the apprenticeship. What’s better is that your learning is complemented by on-the-job training on real projects at CGI!

    Entry Criteria

    To have or be predicated to achieve at least 64 UCAS points across two A-Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above (excluding general studies) including a computing/IT/STEM subject gained in the same academic year or a completed Advanced IT Apprenticeship. A minimum of five A*-C GCSEs (or equivalent), including English, Maths and Science. We also look for people with a passion for IT and a willingness to learn!

    Our Project Management Higher Apprenticeship is run in partnership with our training provider, QA Apprenticeships. It is an 18-24 month programme with in-classroom training over the course of your apprenticeship and you will have QA Apprenticeship Coach support throughout the apprenticeship. What’s even better is that your learning is complemented by on-the-job training on real projects at CGI!

    Software Testing Higher Apprenticeship

    Our Software Testing Apprenticeship is ideal for School Leavers that wish to pursue an IT/computing career and want to learn whilst earning at the same time.

    The Programme

    Our software testing apprenticeship is run in partnership with our training provider, Firebrand training. It is a 16-month programme which offers a blended learning approach. You will have 15 residential training days (delivered in Bedfordshire) over the course of your apprenticeship, accommodation and food will be covered. To support alongside this residential training, you will learn additional content through online learning and webinars and you have Apprenticeship Coach support throughout the apprenticeship. What’s even better is that your learning is also complemented by on-the-job training on real projects at CGI!

    The curriculum

    During the course of your apprenticeship, you can expect to study modules such as the below, including others!

    • Testing Tools & Testing Concepts
    • ISTQB Foundation Software Tester
    • Programming

    To have or be predicated to achieve at least 64 UCAS points across two A-Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above (excluding general studies) including a computing/IT/STEM subject gained in the same academic year or a completed Advanced IT Apprenticeship. A minimum of five A*-C (or new grading of 4-9) GCSEs (or equivalent), including English, Maths and Science. We also look for people with a passion for business, IT and a willingness to learn!

    Our Service Desk Apprenticeship Programme 

    CGI has an award winning, world class, 5* Service Desk in Bridgend, South Wales, recruiting future leaders in technical and leadership roles. Over 15 months you will train towards a full Microsoft certified IT Systems Networking Level 3 Apprenticeship onsite with QA. We offer roles across sectors including; Service Delivery, Project Management, Technical and Project Services.         Your studies will be complemented with on-the-job training gained on live projects with real jobs and real clients from day one. Previous apprentices have worked on top-secret national security projects, played their part in sending satellites to Mars and helped to win multi-million pound projects – all whilst continuing to maintain and deliver the high standards CGI clients have come to expect.

        The best thing about joining us as an apprentice is that, while you may start in one area, the opportunity to move internally is huge. And because we also offer a permanent contract, you can grow your career in the direction you like, right from the start. You’ll have a designated manager who will support your career development at CGI as well as a Line Manager on your projects who support you on a day-by-day basis. On top of this, we also allocate a buddy/mentor who will assist you on the road to success.
