New virtual reality has increased vulnerability to threat actors. To respond to these heightened cybersecurity risks, CGI’s security experts are uniting by volunteering their expertise and time to better protect people, businesses and communities against cyber threats.

In addition to our sponsorship programme to support grass-root community groups, we use our experience as skilled IT professionals in our local communities, supporting the next generation of the STEM workforce, equipping them with the tools, qualifications and experiences necessary to benefit the community of the future.

 

Community Wellbeing

 

We are proud to support and sponsor local community groups and sports clubs nominated by our members. From Brownies, to football teams, choirs to gymnastics clubs, over the last year have sponsored kits for more than 300 different clubs and groups. Each month our Charity Committee donates to the charities supported by our members through their own fundraising and volunteering. Every CGI member is encouraged to spend one day each year volunteering to support local initiatives or charities, making a significant difference to the communities in which we live and work.

Dream Connectors

 

Dream Connectors is a global, member-led programme in which all members are invited to submit their ideas for community projects to improve the wellbeing of our local communities through the positive impact of technology. The winning ideas receive full backing from CGI and all the support needed to turn the dream into a reality through funding, technology, and member volunteers. Recent UK Dream Connectors programs have included member volunteers delivering tech skills workshops in local primary schools and a returnship programme for people returning to work after a period of absence.

Future of STEM

CGI is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of the STEM workforce. Our global STEM@CGI program aims to provide experiences that inspire students with the drive to learn for a bright future in the digital workforce.

CGI STEM Camps

STEM Camps

In partnership with local schools and community organisations, CGI hosts one and half-day STEM camps across the country. These fun, interactive events teach students about the skills and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and maths. Last year we hosted 25 camps, engaging more than 150 CGI volunteers and reaching more than 900 students. STEM@CGI focuses on students in demographics that are underrepresented in STEM fields, including women, students from ethnic minorities and low-income families.

STEM from Home

As a result of Covid-19, our STEM camp programme went virtual with the introduction of our STEM from Home. Weekly STEM based activity packs have engaged parents and children with a range of fun and educational activities to try at home. Activities span all of STEM, including coding, space, engineering and robotics, helping to encourage children to develop technical, practical and physical skills.

Bring Your Daughter to Work

Daughter to Work

CGI’s annual Daughter to Work Days encourage CGI members to bring their daughters, nieces and other family members to work to take part in fun tech-related activities such as programming robots, coding with Scratch and learning about the trailblazing women who have gone before us. Events take place in offices around the UK and are targeted at girls aged 7-12. The girls also get exposure to a real-life working environment, the opportunity to learn about inspirational women in the industry and opportunities for careers in STEM.
