Glasgow, United Kingdom, 14 September 2016

CGI (TSX: GIB.A) (NYSE: GIB) today officially unveiled its new office located in Glasgow’s new technology and innovation zone. The new office will house CGI’s Open Digital Services Centre (ODSC) and demonstrates CGI’s continued investment and commitment to creating high value technology careers in Scotland.

The ODSC is a centre of excellence for open technologies across the UK — with a focus on Open Source software. Having opened its first Open Digital Services Centre in Glasgow in 2013, continued growth and development of new services for CGI clients in the public and private sectors across the UK, has resulted in the need for more space to house the growing team in the city. The CGI office can accommodate up to 140 CGI team members initially, with an option of further expansion, more than doubling CGI’s current office space.

The new inovo hub brings together innovative organisations, including those from the enabling technology sector, to becoming a focus for technology in Scotland. The inovo hub is sponsored and managed by Scottish Enterprise, with the building itself having received the ‘BREEAM’ rating of Excellent making the inovo hub the greenest building in CGI’s UK portfolio.

CGI is committed to investing in developing a skilled workforce by providing employment and training opportunities for local young people. For example, CGI offers a sponsored degree programme with Glasgow Caledonian University which enables students to study towards a BSc (Hons) in Computing whilst developing a career with CGI working at its Glasgow office four days a week. In 2015 CGI announced plans to take on 60 modern apprentices across Scotland with the first apprentices recently graduating.

Maggie Morrison, Vice President of Scotland at CGI said: “According to e-Skills, the technology industry employs 73,000 people in Scotland, with roughly 40% of those jobs in software. Our ODSC is a world leading facility that will see a significant number of new high-quality software roles. At CGI we are committed to working with Open Source software for clients across the public and private sectors and these are just the type of jobs Scotland’s young talent will benefit from.”

Property firm, Lambert Smith Hampton acted for CGI on the acquisition.
