London, United Kingdom, 26 September 2019

CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) has been awarded a contract by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to provide IT services which will support its mission of safeguarding vulnerable UK citizens. The contract will last two and a half years, and during this time CGI will transition and manage a number of core IT applications, enabling operational excellence in a stable and secure environment. CGI will also provide a Service Integration and Management (SIAM) capability to help ensure the smooth running and security of DBS’s operations.

DBS processes and issues criminal background checks on potential employees across England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; helping employers and voluntary organisations to make safer recruitment decisions. DBS also maintains barred lists, which provide a record of people who are not permitted to work in regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults.

Eric Robinson, Chief Executive Officer at the Disclosure and Barring Service, commented: “We’re excited to be working together with CGI who will help us maintain the safety and stability of our systems. This will allow us to continue to safeguard the most vulnerable groups in society and will enable us to undergo further digital transformation in the future.”

Tara McGeehan, President of UK Operations at CGI, commented: “Working with DBS to safeguard vulnerable people underpins our commitment to ensure and maintain public security. CGI’s capabilities have meant we have become an established supplier to Central Government, and we look forward both to continuing this close relationship through our work with DBS and to opening an office in Liverpool to support delivery.”

Partnering with DBS to safeguard vulnerable people is the latest collaboration between CGI and UK Government. CGI has been a trusted supplier to UK Government for over 40 years delivering complex, mission critical systems to departments across the Home & Foreign Affairs landscape and into Central Government. Safeguarding the most vulnerable UK citizens is at the core of CGI’s business.
