CGI is the 5th largest IT Services provider in the world and we employ hundreds of students every year. We understand this is a critical stage in their lives, and that they face more options and decisions than ever before. We also know that it may be just as confusing for you as it is for them, so we’d like to explain the full range of these opportunities so you can help your child, student or dependent make the choice that’s right for them.
We’re a company that values and supports students. And because we see our junior talent as our next generation of leaders and IT specialists, we’re committed to their personal and professional development – whichever route into CGI they choose.
Our student recruitment team are happy to visit schools/colleges in Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire to talk about our programmes or employment skills to students. Schools/colleges further afield, are more difficult for us to reach, however please do get in contact and we can explore. Please contact us at email@example.com.
- Our Higher IT Apprenticeship
We launched our Higher IT Apprenticeship Programmes in 2014. We have programmes that enable students to specialise in a technical field from software development, cyber security, open source and SAP. If the technical field isn’t what the student is after, we also have highly successful apprenticeships in project management and payroll.
Apprentices will spend twelve weeks across the two year programme studying with our ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating training provider, QA, learning the key skills and knowledge of their specialism. This is supplemented by learning on-the-job for the rest of the time as they will be working on our client projects developing their careers within CGI. The apprentice starting salary is £14,625 and we pay for all their training and related course fees.
It’s right for those who don’t want to go on to university, but want to specialise in a specific area of IT or extend their IT knowledge with further on-the-job training. The entry requirement is two C’s at A-level including a computing/IT subject or a completed Advanced IT Apprenticeship and five GCSEs at grades A*-C (including English, Science and Maths) or equivalent.
We are exploring the opportunity to offer those apprentices who want to continue to develop their higher education further to join into our degree apprenticeship programme to enable them to obtain a full degree in 4/5 years from joining us.
- Our Graduate Degree Level Apprenticeship
On our Graduate/Degree Level Apprenticeship, students can start their careers straight after A levels or when they’ve completed their Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship and further their education without the worry of tuition fee debt.
Since 2007, we’ve been working in partnership with the University of Winchester to offer students a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions degree with either a business or IT focus. Students study on-site at university one day a week, over three years. They spend the remaining four days of the week working at CGI on a variety of projects for clients across the UK. Due to the success of this programme, we also have relationships with Aston University, Edinburgh Napier University Glasgow Caledonian University offering the same support and experience.
The Degree Apprenticeship in partnership with Aston University is a 4 and a half year programme where students will study towards a BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions at on-site at Aston University as well as remotely, whilst also developing their career working on real projects at CGI.
Our Graduate Level Apprenticeship with Edinburgh Napier University is a 4 year programme where students will study towards a BSc (Hons) IT Management for Business (ITMB), one day a week at Edinburgh Napier University, whilst spending the other four days a week developing your career on real projects at CGI.
Our Graduate Level Apprenticeship with Glasgow Caledonian University is a four year programme where students will study towards a BSc (Hons) in Software Development. They will be on-site at university one day a week and spend the other four days of the week developing their career at CGI, based in CGI’s Glasgow office.
