Dragonfly is a revolutionary water monitoring system using current and emerging technology to monitor water temperature, quality, flow and depth in watercourses in real-time. Using sensors placed directly in rivers and waterways, Dragonfly has the potential to transform the protection of the water environment, as well as the lives and connectivity of rural communities.

The idea came out of the CGI-led design sprint “Enabling the Rural Revolution – How can we enhance rural communities and the environment using Emerging Technologies?” during the Northumbrian Water Group Innovation Festival 2019.

Northumbrian Water and CGI, are currently working together to develop a prototype of Dragonfly.
