CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) announced the award of an enterprise contract from California-based Aerojet Rocketdyne for transformation of the legendary aerospace company’s legacy information technology (IT) systems to a highly secure hybrid IT environment. Under the full IT outsourcing agreement, CGI will unify disparate technologies, simplify mobile platforms and lead overall transformation of Aerojet Rocketdyne systems to a next-generation architecture across the enterprise.

“Aerojet Rocketdyne’s commitment to the success of its clients’ ground-breaking missions for the past 70 years has required a level of innovation unique to the IT and aerospace industry’s spirit of exploration,” said Aerojet Rocketdyne Vice-President of Information Technology Mark Angelo. “CGI is becoming an important partner as we look toward the coming decades of exploration, innovation and technological development in support of our space and national security clients.”

In support of Aerojet Rocketdyne’s IT transformation, CGI will provide the technology, consulting services, frameworks and practices needed to secure and manage the organization’s entire IT portfolio as well as create cohesive strategies that align IT to business objectives and maximize IT investments as a result. CGI will deploy its CGI Unify360 solution to digitally enable the transformation from a legacy to next-generation IT environment that drives cost savings, is secure and compliant, and is flexible and agile to meet the business’ changing needs.

“CGI brings the powerful combination of commercial know-how and federal expertise that sets us apart as an IT partner for the aerospace industry. With Aerojet Rocketdyne’s headquarters in California, they can count on CGI for fresh perspective and innovation as a local partner with digital transformation expertise and global scale,” said David L. Henderson, President of CGI’s US operations

In addition, CGI announced that it will perform work on behalf of Aerojet Rocketdyne through its network of U.S. onshore IT services delivery centers. CGI's U.S. onshore delivery centers help government and commercial organizations diversify IT sourcing to reduce cost and risk. This innovative approach has created U.S. jobs, generated millions of dollars in local economic activity and forged strong partnerships between communities, educational institutions and government agencies at all levels.

“We are honored to become a trusted partner to Aerojet Rocketdyne, which is a leading innovator in support of America’s most ambitious space exploration goals and a vital technology provider to the nation’s armed forces,” said Patrick Dougherty, Senior Vice-President of U.S. Defense for CGI Federal. “Through this partnership, CGI looks forward to bringing its expertise to bear to help Aerojet Rocketdyne adapt to the future needs of their company and its clients.”
